Wine Crate #5
Wine crate #5 is a present for one of our friends. I used some standard wine label layout and hand carved a vineyard and region into the side of the case – a new technique. I wish I could figure out a laser wood carving system but my attempt was using a dremel tool and ink-jet wax paper transfer. While not perfect it still gets the point across. I also used a pre-sealer on this wood which helped tremendously with the Old Masters Gel Stain – Early American. The Old Masters Gel Stain provides a rich glow to the wood unmatched by other wiping stains. I ordered more of this from my supplier and it will be in next week. In addition to the stain process the top coat on this crate is the Mohawk pre-cat matt lacquer. An inside tray was built out of a drawer I found on one of my “Thrifting” outings (AKA DUMPSTER). Yes two feet in the air sometimes yields great results. Who would think… (shameless plug). Enjoy…
